WHOOOAAA... Isn't that a... ?
If all photographers follow the advice of Bruce Gilden who said that young photographers should "Photograph who you are!" then Inés Troytiño must be a sex addict, or at least someone deeply intrigued by the subject... Though, aren't we all?!
There she, is, the lady herself, looking pretty sexual. This photograph was taken by Raul Bonatiu.
Inés Troytiño, put together an exhibition in order to change the stigma and clichés of sex.
Inés Troytiño's explanation on the idea behind the exhibition:
"The idea is to overthrow the bias between photographers and viewers on sex, then, create a doubt in the viewer through the different artworks. Sex is what makes us alive and, in the case of the human, physical attraction, the cliché, fetishism, pain, pleasure, vacuum ... sex can be represented by many things, more or less abstract. Not many people understand it, so that’s why I'm interested in using a stigmatized theme as sex.
SEX SELLS is what people usually understand. But I do not have that perspective. I do so to convey a message. Because, at the end, art is the best way to say something and make people understand what you’re trying to say. I use it as a theme for seeing what lurks in human needs.
I want the viewer to build its own story about this common factor we all have through the eyes of several photographers, which have the power of communication through a picture. Humanize something that, over the years, has become plastic. Nothing else. The photographers choice has been based on my own study of their personal work and impact. It has also involved the exhibition building by the series with a photograph alongside other, over and over again. It is important for me the narrative capacity of a series. I don’t want just pictures. What I want are puzzle pieces which everyone can play with."
